🍽️ Charleston Restaurant Week (1/8 - 1/18)

It’s that time of the year again! Charleston Restaurant Week is a recurring semi-annual culinary event where some of the best restaurants in town offer special prix-fixe menus that allow locals and visitors alike to try out the best food they have to offer at discounted prices. Some deals are great, others are overrated, so I’ll help you cut through the noise and highlight what’s worth your time and money. You can click on the “Menu Offering” to see the full prix-fixe menu for each restaurant. The full list of restaurants participating is here.

🍜 Shokudo (Downtown Charleston)

We highlighted Shokudo as a new restaurant you should visit in last week’s edition, but now is a perfect time to try a variety of selections at a very reasonable price for a nice night out on King Street. It’s a Japanese tavern (izakaya) with a plethora of delicious options you won’t find elsewhere in Charleston.

Menu Offering:
- Four Courses for $50
- Here’s what I would pick for each course:
- 1st Course: Shaka Shaka Fries
- 2nd Course: Karaage Chicken Namban
- 3rd Course : Crab Fried Rice
- 4th Course: Ube Meringue Pie

🍝 Indaco (Downtown Charleston)

Indaco is regarded as one of the best upscale Italian restaurants in Charleston. Personally, I’ve never left unsatisfied after stuffing my face full of pizza, pasta, and wine. Now you can get pizza, pasta, and dessert, all for $55.

Menu Offering:
- Three Courses for $55
- 1st Course: Antipasti or Pizza
- 2nd Course: Pasta or Piatti
- 3rd Course: Dessert

🥩 The James (James Island)

The James is a neighborhood restaurant offering traditional American fare. It’s under the same ownership as Husk and Delaney Oyster House, bringing you high quality food with an elevated ambiance, while avoiding the hustle and bustle of downtown. During restaurant week, you can get 2 courses for $25 during lunch, or 3 courses for $45 during dinner.

Dinner Menu Offering
- Three Courses for $45
- Here’s what I would pick for each course:
- 1st Course: Smoked Fish Dip
- 2nd Course: Bolognese
- 3rd Course: Chocolate Bread Pudding

📰 Local Updates You Should Care About

🚧 Construction of Maybank Highway mid-block crossing to begin January 6. Improvements are expected to be complete in two months. While construction on Maybank Highway is underway, intermittent nighttime lane closures will be in place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., with at least one lane open in each direction at all times.

🌉 Starting January 5th, a portion of the Pitt Street Bridge will be closed to the public. Roughly 600 feet of the causeway will remain open to the public during construction. Assuming no unforeseen conditions, construction is expected to last 1 week.

🏩 Demo day for Days Inn pushed to 2026, delaying timeline for Charleston’s Four Seasons (The Post and Courier). The Four Seasons is now expected to be completed in 2029, which is a year later than previously reported.

🥪 The Pass in Mount Pleasant will officially open today (Monday, January 5th) at 976 Houston Northcutt Blvd in Northcutt Plaza. I’m super excited for this as The Pass is my favorite sandwich shop in Charleston, and now you don’t have to worry about parking downtown.

🐟 Saltwater Cowboys will close from Jan. 5 to Jan. 12 while the restaurant undergoes a makeover. Once back open, guests can expect to see upgrades to the dining room, bar, and kitchen, including new tables and chairs, updated colors, and a new design throughout the space (News 2).

🍺 Recovery Room has recorded the 2nd most PBR sales in the world for the second year in a row. While this is an impressive feat, Recovery Room previously held the title for #1 most sales for 10 years in a row. Robert’s Western World in Nashville currently holds the the title now.
