Local Updates You Should Care About

🦪Tucked into a narrow space on Upper King, Rappahannock Oyster Bar specializes in incredibly fresh oysters from their own Virginia farms. The daily selection changes based on what's best, and the staff knows their stuff when it comes to pairing recommendations. Beyond oysters, their lobster roll and clam chowder are standouts. It's the kind of place where you can grab a quick dozen oysters and a beer or settle in for a full seafood feast. Menu.
🍔Sesame Burgers & Beer proves that Park Circle's food scene keeps getting better with creative takes on classic American fare. Their truffle parmesan fries are addictive, and the Korean BBQ burger brings serious heat with kimchi and gochujang aioli. The beer selection focuses on local breweries, and the casual vibe makes it perfect for a laid-back dinner. Most burgers hover around $12-14 and come with generous portions. Menu.

✨Local Spotlight: Live Oak Little School

If you've got little ones, I want to make sure you know about Live Oak Little School on James Island. This isn't your average preschool — kids receive a well-rounded education with a focus on academics alongside daily immersion in art, music, and movement, with dedicated piano and music lessons built right into the curriculum.
Siblings get a discount on tuition, which is a big deal if you're juggling more than one kid. They're also actively offering scholarships for families who need them.
What I love most? The school donates to a village in Ghana and is working to connect orphans with adoptive families. It's a community that genuinely cares beyond its own walls.
If you love working with children and enjoy being on a great team, Live Oak Little School is hiring teachers and care providers.
