🚚The Food Truck Review
Ever find yourself wanting to grab something to eat but not commit to a full sit-down restaurant and still want something better than fast food? Good news. Charleston has a lineup of locally owned food trucks that deliver serious quality without the wait.
🔱Poseidon Playground
This is a true locals’ spot. Tucked next to the Walmart on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston, this unassuming food truck serves some of the best Hispanic food in the area, made fresh daily. The menu covers everything from wings and burgers to chicken tenders and tacos, but the real standout is the birria. Go for the birria taco bowl, classic birria tacos, birria quesadillas, or my personal favorite, the birria egg rolls. Pair it with a Jarritos and finish with a slice of tres leches for the full experience. Beyond the food, the service sets it apart. The owners are genuinely some of the friendliest people in town, which makes the whole experience even better. Click here for the full menu and address.
🍴Lola’s Lumpia
Lola's Lumpia has been a Charleston favorite since launching in 2019. Family-owned and operated, the truck is rooted in recipes inspired by their Filipino grandmother, “Lola,” and that authenticity shows in every bite. The lumpia is the must-order. Crispy, flavorful, and consistently excellent. I also recommend the pancit, a classic noodle dish that never disappoints. Finish it off with their homemade ube ice cream for the perfect sweet ending. Lola’s is more than just a food truck. It’s a family story served through food, and Charleston has fully embraced it. Check out the menu and the food truck location.

📰Local Updates You Should Care About
🏥Medical University of South Carolina trustees are reviewing plans for a $1.1 billion standalone cancer hospital in downtown Charleston. The facility would consolidate cancer services and strengthen the work of Hollings Cancer Center, the state’s only NCI-designated cancer center (WCSC). The upside: A historic healthcare investment that expands advanced treatment, research, and clinical trials for patients across South Carolina. The concern: Residents raise questions about parking capacity, increased traffic congestion, and flooding risks in an already infrastructure-strained area of the peninsula.
👀🏨 The Town of Mount Pleasant has approved the design for the Grand Patriot Hotel by Bennett Hospitality, bringing a 300-room, six-story property with a ballroom, meeting space, multiple dining options, outdoor pool with pool bar, garden terrace, and over 3.6 acres of open space to the site. Check out Bill Olson’s Instagram video for images of the rendering and more details.
✂️Charleston officials held a ribbon cutting this week to celebrate the completion of the $71 million Low Battery Restoration Project along Murray Boulevard. The multi-phase effort reinforced roughly 5,000 feet of historic waterfront to better protect against flooding, storm surge, and rising seas, while also adding a raised promenade, improved sidewalks, safer crossings, landscaping, and enhanced ADA access. The project was completed under budget and is designed to preserve and strengthen one of the city’s most iconic public spaces for decades to come.
🏓 New indoor pickleball hub opening celebration – PickleRage North Charleston announced its first South Carolina location with a two-day grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting event set for March 6-7. The new facility will offer indoor courts, clinics with pros, and community programming for players of all ages (PR Newswire).
