🪑Locals’ Favorite Consignment Shops

This week we're spotlighting some of the Charleston area's favorite antique and consignment shops, handpicked by locals who know where to find quality pieces without paying full price.

🛍️Consign Charleston
Located on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in West Ashley, Consign Charleston has quietly become one of the best kept secrets in the Holy City. With over 22,000 square feet of floor space and more than 17,000 consignors, the inventory spans men's and women's clothing, fashion accessories, antiques, collectibles, home decor, and gently used furniture. The vintage and luxury section alone is worth the trip, and because the inventory changes daily, no two visits are the same. They've been voted Best Consignment and Best Furniture Consignment in Charleston, and it's easy to see why. Check out their website here.

🏡🛋️From My House to Yours
Summerville's go-to consignment shop since 1994, From My House to Yours on Travelers Boulevard offers a 10,000 square foot showroom packed with furniture, home decor, household items, and clothing. They recently took in a fresh haul from several model homes, which means the selection right now is especially worth a look. The kind of place where you can spend an hour and leave with something you didn't know you needed. Check out their website here.

💎Hidden Gems

🍛 Hannibal's Kitchen has been feeding the soul of the Eastside since 1985, and it remains one of the last true bastions of Gullah-Geechee cooking on the peninsula. This family-owned spot on Blake Street doesn't dress things up, and that's exactly the point. The crab rice is the dish people come back for, a simple pile of blue crab over steamed white rice that somehow delivers more flavor than most restaurants with ten times the ambience. The fried whiting, smothered pork chops, okra soup, and red rice round out a menu that reads like a love letter to Lowcountry cooking. It's the kind of place where the food does all the talking. Check out their menu here.

🌮 What started as a food truck is now a full restaurant off Remount Road in North Charleston, and Dashi has built a serious following by doing something most kitchens won't try: combining Asian and Latin flavors in a way that actually works. The duck ramen, banh mi wrap, pork belly steamed buns, and pad thai all live on the same menu, and regulars swear by all of them. The vibe is funky and casual, straight out of the 70s, and the prices are reasonable enough to make it a weeknight regular. Check out their menu here.

🍗 Workmen's Cafe on James Island is run by Ms. Angie, and it is one of the most quietly beloved lunch spots in all of Charleston. Open Tuesday through Friday for lunch only, this cafeteria-style kitchen serves fried chicken, meatloaf, pork chops, mac and cheese, lima beans, red rice, and whatever the daily special happens to be. When it's gone, it's gone. The peach cobbler and honey butter biscuits are worth planning around. There's nothing fancy about it, and that's exactly why people keep coming back. Check out their menu here.

🏘️ A new housing development in Charleston is being designed specifically to provide permanent housing for people experiencing homelessness in the area, part of a broader push to address one of the city's most visible and growing challenges.

⚠️ Around 100 residents at the Oaks at Charleston senior living facility have been told they need to find new housing by April 10 after the facility announced it is closing. If you have a loved one there, or know someone who does, time is short.

🏫 A South Carolina Senate subcommittee is reviewing a proposal that would require every public school in the state to have mobile panic alert systems in place by July 1, 2026. The measure is still being considered but would affect every Charleston area school if it passes.

🌿 The City of Charleston has completed the new Bridgepoint Ecological Park and Playground, adding a fresh green space for residents to enjoy. A small but welcome addition to the city's public amenities.

That's everything for this Friday. Enjoy the weekend, Charleston. We'll be back in your inbox Monday morning.
