There's no shortage of places to get your news, but only one newsletter is written specifically for the people who actually live here. Happy Monday, Charleston. Glad to have 3,500+ of you back in your inbox this morning.

Before we dive in, I want to gauge some interest in something new. One of my goals with this newsletter has always been to build real community among Charleston readers, whether you moved here last year or have called this city home for decades. This is a chance to turn that into something you can experience in person.
Here's the idea: All Things Charleston Dinner Club.

You take a short personality quiz, and we match you with 5 other readers at a dinner table. We handle the restaurant booking, the reminders, and all the details. There's a small fee to reserve your seat. You just show up ready to meet some great people.
We're thinking late April. Would you be interested?

Now let’s get into your 5-minute read of everything you need to know happening in Charleston this weekend.

Here’s what we’re covering today:

💎Hidden Gems

🎣If you haven't made the drive up Highway 17 to Awendaw, this is your sign to check out Sewee Outpost. Half general store, half Lowcountry kitchen, this spot sits right at the edge of Francis Marion National Forest and Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge. Every morning they're turning out made from scratch biscuits that are worth the trip alone. Their freezer is stocked with local meats, veggies, and their famous cheese biscuits to take home. You'll also find hunting and fishing supplies, local honey, and a solid selection of outdoor gear. They even have live music under the oaks every Wednesday night. It's the kind of place that locals swear by. Check out their website to see everything they offer.

🍲 Burnin 99 off Rivers Avenue in North Charleston is an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ and hot pot restaurant that locals have been quietly loving. The appeal is the variety: 6 different broths, 45 fresh meats and vegetables to choose from, and a sauce bar where you mix your own dipping sauce from more than 20 options. Every table ends up with something a little different, and the all-you-can-eat format means you can take your time and try things you wouldn't normally order. It's the kind of meal that turns into a two-hour dinner without you noticing. Check out their menu here.

Your Supplement Routine, Organized.

You're taking 8+ supplements. You can't remember when half of them expire. And you definitely don't know if they overlap. Get the SuppCo app to track nutrients, get scheduling alerts, and see what you're actually taking. It’s your health, don’t make it complicated.

📰Local Updates You Should Care About

🏗️ North Charleston is rewriting its zoning code for the first time in decades, setting new rules for how land can be used and developed across the city. The overhaul touches everything from property use to neighborhood development, and the decisions made here will shape what North Charleston looks like for years to come.

🛒 The Walmart in Ladson is temporarily closing in April for renovations. It's a big store that a lot of people in that area count on for everyday shopping, so if you're in the Ladson area, it's worth finding your backup plan before the doors close.

🏘️ Charleston Mayor William Cogswell traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with HUD officials about advancing the city's affordable housing efforts. With housing costs continuing to climb across the Lowcountry, these conversations with federal officials could open the door to meaningful funding and programs for Charleston residents.

🚧 A section of Center Street at the Barbara Street intersection in Old Mount Pleasant closes today for storm drainage improvements. It'll cause some disruption in the short term, but the work is part of ongoing efforts to better protect the historic area from flooding.

That's a wrap for today. As always, thanks for spending a few minutes with us. We'll see you back here Friday morning.
