Hope your weekend was a good one, Charleston. Whether you made the drive to Summerville for the Flowertown Festival or laced up for the Bridge Run on Saturday, this was one of those weekends that reminds you why you live here.

A big congratulations to everyone who crossed that finish line on Saturday. Nearly 34,000 finishers made it one of the biggest Bridge Runs in race history. On the elite side, Edwin Kurgat took the men's title with a course record time of 27 minutes and 28 seconds, and Everlyn Kemboi claimed the women's title with a course record of 31 minutes and 15 seconds. Both records broken in the same race. Not a bad Saturday morning in Charleston.

🎉What’s New

🎸 King Street just got a new addition worth knowing about. On Air Charleston is a two-floor live music venue that brings completely different vibes to each level. Downstairs is a Nashville-inspired honky tonk with country and rock, the kind of place where you don't need to know anyone to have a good time. Head upstairs and the energy shifts entirely to an upscale house music lounge with rooftop cocktails. Two floors, two different nights out under the same roof. Check out their website here.

💎 Swarovski is coming to King Street. The Austrian crystal and jewelry brand, founded in 1895 and known for dressing everyone from Harry Styles at the Met Gala to Doja Cat in 30,000 hand-applied crystals, has signed a lease at 331 King St. in the former King Street Vision space. It will be the brand's first standalone store in all of South Carolina. No opening date has been set yet as the upper floors of the building are still being redeveloped, but it's a notable sign of where the 300 block of King Street is heading. Take a look at their website here to understand what the store is about.

🤝 The City of Charleston just opened Palmetto Row Collectives at 395 King Street, a shared storefront designed to give local small businesses an affordable foothold on one of the most expensive retail streets in the Southeast. Nearly 50 entrepreneurs applied and four were chosen, many of them women-owned or led by underrepresented founders, who receive below-market rent, marketing support, and hands-on business training as part of the deal. The four businesses now calling it home are Daniela De Art3, The House of Juls, SHE Biology, and Charleo, with a rotating pop-up area for additional small businesses to showcase their work. It's a genuine effort to make King Street a little more local, and a lot more worth visiting. Take a look at this Instagram video here for a preview.

📰Local Updates You Should Care About

🏙️ After years of quiet planning, construction has officially begun on Hanahan's first town center. For a city that has grown steadily without much of a central identity, this development marks a turning point that residents have been waiting on for a long time.

🎾 Charleston's own Emma Navarro, currently ranked No. 27 in the world, has withdrawn from this year's Credit One Charleston Open due to ongoing health struggles. It's a tough one given that her family owns the tournament and it's her hometown event. She's expressed optimism about returning to the court soon and says she's already looking forward to Charleston next year. Get well soon, Emma.

🌊 A large tract of land along the Wando River that Mount Pleasant tried to buy is now being sold to private developers. It's one of the last significant pieces of riverfront property in a rapidly developing area, and what gets built there will shape that stretch of the Lowcountry for decades.

🚧 A community forum is being organized along Clements Ferry Road to address what's coming: projections show 45,000 new residents moving into the Cainhoy, Wando, and Huger areas over the next decade. For anyone living in those communities now, that number is worth paying attention to.

📋 South Carolina has extended the 2025 state income tax filing deadline by six months while lawmakers work on aligning state and federal tax codes. If you haven't filed yet, you now have more time, and it may be worth watching how any changes to the tax code affect what you ultimately owe.

That's a wrap for today. As always, thanks for spending a few minutes with us. We'll see you back here Friday morning.
